Big G's BBQ Sauce: Label Design

Brandon was an aspiring entrepreneur looking to redesign his current label for his barbecue sauce bottles. He provided me with some samples of the work he'd had done previously, but was looking for a more polished layout with a cleaner concept. He noted some specific changes that he wanted made, such as increasing the font size for the company name, Big G's, and adding more color throughout.

I loved the aesthetic of the plus-sized pin up girl as the primary eyeline feature. I aimed to incorporate this concept into my new design for Brandon. In addition to refining the design for better cohesion, I intended to reassess the borders of the old design to offer something that highlighted rather than dominated the focus, as seen in the reference design he provided.

With this information, I crafted a label that not only enhanced the appeal of the pin-up girl but also prominently displayed the brand name. I incorporated gold highlights to add the color Brandon desired, serving as a complementary element that emphasized the main design features. This design posed an additional challenge due to the unique size of the bottles Brandon used, necessitating a curved "necker" label for the final prints.

Unfortuantely I was unable to obtain a final sample of the labels on the bottle, so the images below represent the finished product digitally mocked up on a similar bottle shape. The client was very happy with this updated label design and plans to patent his barbecue sauce to begin selling in stores across the Illinois area.
